‘me and my view / and my mask ‘ is a series shot with a self built pinhole camera on Fuji hr-e. Double exposures from the front and the back side on the same sheet of film.

‘me and my view / and my mask’ is a kind of Corona-diary. During the time of mandatory mask-wearing I do a daily self-portrait with mask.

In every image you see what I see in the moment of exposure and myself wearing a mask. Handheld, and exposed from the front and back side on the same sheet of x-ray film.

The melting of the different perspecives and the movement of the camera creates a kind of perpectiveless atmosphere. A  feeling a lot of people share these days.

Nobody knows what will happen and we all have to re-adjust.

About the author:

My name is Markus Kaesler and I mainly work with self-built lensless image creating tools.

The creation of the image is as important as the image itself.

The renunciation of modern techniques reduces the medium to it’s essentials; light and time, place and movement.

The work reflects on a fundamental basis the conditions of its own creation. The images are more question than answers. Questions that reach further than just depiction.
