This body of work was made with 35mm Ilford FP4+ film and Kodak TMax-400 film, on a Leica R4s and 50mm Summicron lens. All images were made while walking randomly in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

The shutdown began for us with a provincial state of emergency declared March 20 and most regular work for photographers disappeared.

But the shutdown became a needed opening to document this unique period. Each day I walked alone, with the same camera and lens, to keep physically and creatively active and remember what I saw my fellow citizens doing.

I wanted to see how this cataclysm was affecting them and what they did with so much time that was suddenly,

It’s important to remember this moment, because I suspect once it ends it will all fade fast in our rush to forget it  and return to the comfort of routine.
