JOBO Announces

Multiple New Releases for Analog Film Users

by Marwan El Mozayen / SilvergrainClassics

JOBO has introduced several new products in quick succession, underscoring the continued commitment of the Gummersbach-based manufacturer – founded in 1923 – to analog photography. According to JOBO, the company is responding to current demand by bringing back several discontinued items and expanding its accessories range for uncommon film formats.

Pocket film reel #1502

Among the returning products are the APS reel #2519 and the Minox reel #2518 for 8×11 mm film. JOBO notes that the Pocketfilm reel #1502 was reintroduced last year in response to renewed interest in the 110 format. With these additions, the manufacturer states that it can now provide reel solutions for every available film size, ranging from Super 8 to 8×10-inch sheet film. JOBO also emphasizes backwards compatibility: the APS and Minox reels fit the 2500 tank system, while the Pocketfilm reel #1502 is designed for the 1500 tanks.

For large-format users, JOBO products remain widely regarded as standard equipment. While maximum processing quality is traditionally associated with the company’s Expert Drums, JOBO points out that the 2509N reel continues to offer an accessible alternative for 4×5 sheet film development.

In addition, JOBO has introduced an updated version of its sheet-film loader. The new Planfilm-Loader #2508 has been developed specifically for use with the 2509N reel, according to the manufacturer, and is intended to make loading up to six sheets of 4×5 film in total darkness more efficient. JOBO states that the redesigned reel position uses an eccentric mounting system, supported by an added alignment groove. A distinct click is said to confirm correct engagement inside the loader.

With the launch of the Planfilm-Loader #2508, JOBO aims to provide a practical and cost-effective option for 4×5 workflow—whether as an addition to the Expert system or as a standalone solution.

We expect to review these products once we have access to them and will share our impressions on the SilvergrainClassics blog.
