A great opportunity for two photo enthusiasts to take part in an exceptional workshop with Bruce Barnbaum in Tuscany

By Bruce Barnbaum / SilvergrainClassics

In my most recent book I explain how Japanese has a single word, “kiki,” for both disaster and opportunity, and how I was able to turn the disaster of the Covid pandemic into the opportunity of allowing me the time to put together the imagery and writing for the book, titled Discoveries of a Lifetime. Now I want to tell you how an unexpected disaster hitting Alexander Ehhalt and me opens up a potential opportunity for you. Alexander and I are the co-instructors for the wonderful Toscana (Tuscany) photography workshop in Italy, starting March 23, just over two weeks from today.

The workshop was filled. Yesterday two students cancelled due to medical emergencies. This is a disaster for us, but an opportunity for you: it opens up two spaces for anyone who may have wanted to attend the workshop, yet felt it was too late to apply. A few days ago it was too late; today it is no longer too late. So, if you have a bit of interest in taking part in this fabulous workshop, please continue reading. If you have no interest, ignore this, or read on for light reading (if you have nothing better to do)!

Basics About The Workshop

The workshop costs $2025 (or it’s euro equivalent, of about 1900€). Travel, accommodations and food are additional costs. Accommodations, (which we will arrange for your stay) in the charming hilltop village of Montisi, is in one of two lovely guesthouses, at a cost of just 95€ / night. It begins in the morning of March 23, and ends the evening of March 29.

The workshop features photography sessions in several fascinating towns – Montalcino, Pienza, Siena, Montepulciano, and Montisi, itself – and several extraordinary open landscape locations in Toscana’s dreamlike rolling hills.

The workshop also features exceptionally deep reviews and discussions of the photographic work of all participants, an educational deep dive unparalleled in other workshops.

The workshop includes full discussions of the instructors’ work, including the materials they used, their processes, their thinking behind the imagery, and all questions about any aspect of their work that can open up new ways of approaching photography for you.
