Bruce Barnbaum Exhibition at Heidelberg Images Photo Gallery

Discoveries of a Lifetime

By Hermann Groeneveld / SilvergrainClassics

On March 21, 2025, Heidelberg Images Photo Gallery is planning an exhibition of works by Bruce Barnbaum that have never been exhibited before. There will also be a signing session with the artist in the gallery.

Forgotten Images Newly Discovered

In 2019, Bruce Barnbaum decided to revisit all his black and white negatives and contact prints since the beginning of his career in 1970. He harbored the hope that perhaps one or two good images had been overlooked and were in need of resurrection. To his astonishment, he discovered a whole series of worthy candidates that needed to be re-evaluated by him.
The Heidelberg Images Photo Gallery presents 17 new motifs from this selection as silver gelatine prints, which have never been exhibited before. Along with some classics from Bruce’s life’s work.
In collaboration with SilvergrainClassics, the project has resulted in an illustrated book, see our book review: Discoveries of a Lifetime Book Review.
The vernissage will take place on March 21, 2025 at 7 pm:

Masterclass Workshop in Tuscany

One place is still available for this coveted workshop . A unique opportunity for a quick decision maker.

The workshop in March 2025 in Tuscany offers:
  • Outdoor sessions, i.e. photo shoots at selected interesting locations
  • Classroom sessions in which, in addition to the lectures and presentations, the work of the speakers Bruce Barnbaum and Alexander Ehhalt but especially the work of all participants is discussed in detail and critically. These “reviews” were among the highlights of the workshop for everyone.

The Magical Light of The Dolomites

There are also still places available for a South Tyrol / Dolomites workshop (at the end of September 2025, led by Alexander Ehhalt.

The magical light of the early morning and evening hours offers ideal conditions for mountain photographers. The dramatic peaks of the Dolomites in northern Italy are among the most impressive landscapes and panoramas in the world. The diversity of this scenery – from imposing mountain massifs to deep gorges and gentle alpine meadows – makes this UNESCO World Heritage Site a truly magical place.
