Ricoh MIRAI camera spotted in Gotham City

No famous photographer has used a Ricoh MIRAI in the rice paddies of Vietnam under mortar fire, it can claim having seen service in the toughest streets of Gotham City!

By Marwan el Mozayen.

Bob the Goon, armed with a camera in Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman. Released by Warner Brothers.

As an SLR user, this camera comes into its own as a photographic notebook when location scouting. It is also a great camera to use at events, and I had it at a presentation of the Leica M6 in Wetzlar. It is always ready to use. I see it as an environmentally friendly disposable camera replacement with much better quality and possibilities.

The camera was so well received by all those who have tried it, that I lend it out to friends for use at weddings.

When location scouting, it is now and then important that I can manually set all of the camera settings. This is especially important when the light gets very bright or dark. While many compact cameras are simply overwhelmed, the MIRAI offers this luxury.

The Ricoh Mirai is also very good for inconspicuous street photography. From time to time, I realize that I don’t need a traditional camera anymore.

Do not worry, only temporarily ;).

In summary, you can say that the camera is ergonomically well-formed, and covers a large focal length range. It performs well as a cheap “always there” camera. As for lenses, the best lens for the Ricoh MIRAI is always the one you have with you. The camera has a very good zoom lens that covers the wide-angle to telephoto range.

True, it is not made of metal and yes, the MIRAI is full of electronics and needs a battery. The lens is not the fastest, but it does what it is supposed to do well for a low price.
